On the afternoon of November 2, 2018, Professor LI Ming, Director of ICHEI visited China International Development Cooperation Agency and both sides exchanged views on capacity building for countries along the Belt and Road initiatives.

Mr ZHOU Liujun, Vice Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency; Ms CAI Fang, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department, China International Development Cooperation Agency; Mr DU Yue, Director of Division for Cooperation, Intersectoral Follow-Up and Partnership, Africa Department, UNESCO; Mr ZHOU Jiagui, Deputy Secretary-General of China’s National Commission for UNESCO; Professor LI Ming, Director of ICHEI; Ms BI Xiaohan, Programme Officer of Africa Programme Office, ICHEI attended the meeting.

Professor LI Ming reported the trainings carried out by ICHEI and Higher Education Research Center of Southern University of Science and Technology, as well as the future work plan. Mr ZHOU Liujun and Ms CAI Fang apprecaited ICHEI’s visit and highly acknowledged ICHEI’s achievements in conducting capacity building and talents cultivation for developing countries and encouraged ICHEI to continue to strengthen the capacity training for countries along the Belt and Road initiative. Mr ZHOU Liujun said that China had attached great importance in carrying out assistance to developing countries, and human resources training is an important part of this initiative. He believed that ICHEI will continue to play an important role in this field. In addition, Mr DU Yue and Mr ZHOU Jiagui appreciated the wonderful work ICHEI had done in capacity building, especially in the field of ICT and higher education.

Mr DU Yue proposed that China International Development Cooperation Agency could strengthen cooperation with UNESCO in the compilation of African history books, human resources development, laboratory renovation and the construction of culture of peace in African countries. Mr ZHOU Liujun expressed the willingness of China International Development Cooperation Agency to actively explore cooperation with UNESCO.

Mr ZHOU Jiagui introduced China's cooperation with UNESCO in recent years, and expressed the hope that China International Development Cooperation Agency  could give support to China's cooperation programmes with UNESCO which received  positive responses from Mr ZHOU Liujun.
