Former ADG for Education of UNESCO TANG Qian Visited ICHEI

On October 29, 2018, Mr. TANG Qian, former Assistant Director General for Education of UNESCO, visited ICHEI in Shenzhen. Prof. LI Ming, Director of ICHEI, and all ICHEI staff joined the meeting with Mr. TANG Qian.

On behalf of ICHEI, Prof. LI Ming extended the warmest welcome and sincere gratitude to Mr. TANG Qian for his support of ICHEI and attention on ICHEI since its establishment in 2016. Mr. TANG Qian said, taking this opportunity to attend ICHEI’s Governing Board Meeting and International Advisory Committee Meeting, I learned a lot about the programmes and activities carried out by ICHEI over the past two years and I was deeply impressed by the vigor and vitality of ICHEI.

Regarding ICHEI’s development plan in the near future, Mr. TANG suggested that ICHEI be focused on its mission and goals, diversify its sources of information and resources, improve the capabilities of institutional management, and actively participate in the activities in areas prioritized by the UNESCO. He added, ICHEI should promote publicity of its various programmes in Asia, Africa and Central and Eastern Europe to share the best practices and spread its influence in the UNESCO community and the world at large.

Mr. TANG Qian started to work in UNESCO Headquarters in Paris from 1993 and came into office as Assistant Director General for Education of UNESCO in 2010. He is the best representative of the Chinese nationalities working in international organizations.
